The Legacy Of The Detroit Lions

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the Detroit Lions are the city’s only professional football franchise. The team currently resides just a luxury sedan or limo ride away at Ford Field, located in downtown Detroit. Here are some team historical highlights:

The Lions weren’t Detroit’s first pro football team. In 1920, the Detroit Heralds were a charter member of the American Professional Football Association, but the franchise folded after two years. Then the Detroit Panthers formed in 1925, but that team also folded after two seasons. In 1928, the Detroit Wolverines were formed, but they failed after only one year. Finally, Detroit welcomed the Lions in 1934. The team originated in Ohio and was purchased for ,952.08 by a group headed by Detroit radio executive George A. Richards and then moved to Motown.

For the first time since 1993 both number one teams from the NFC and AFC have made it to the Super Bowl. The Indianapolis Colts were able to comeback from an 11-point deficit to win the game 30-17 despite stars Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark being shut out of the game. The New Orleans Saints were able to take down the Minnesota Vikings on a 40-yard field goal in overtime for a final score of 38-21. The Vikings had their chances to win but to many turnovers cost them the game. This years Super Bowl XLIV is looking like a high-powered event that features two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today. The game will be held at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium on Feb 7 6:25 pm.

Nba- East Take Revenge And Beat The West In All-Star Game

The East beat the West in this year’s All-Star game. The combination of guard Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and forward Chris Bosh pushed the Eastern Conference ahead of the Western in the 59th All-Star game last Sunday night in Dallas, Texas, with a score of 141-139 .

With great basketball, a close game, and the highest attendance record in the history of the NBA – 108,713 spectators – the All-Stars couldn’t have been better. Wade was selected as the game’s MVP after finishing with 28 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds, as well as converting several fantasy plays with Olympic stars James (Cavaliers) and Dwight Howard (Magic).
